Born in Jhajjar, Haryana, he faced economic hardships that forced him to leave school and support his family. At the age of 15, with just Rs. 112, he moved to Calcutta (now Kolkata) in search of work.
He first started with a humble job but soon decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. His initial businesses were in the jute industry, cotton vests, and iron pipes. In 1969, he established a manufacturing unit for Galvanized Iron (GI) pipes, laying the first foundation of the Bansal Group which eventually grew to consist of several companies including Skipper.
He always had a strong focus towards Steel value addition business and left a lasting legacy in the same. As the business flourished, he transitioned and devoted his life to philanthropy, entrusting the company's future to the next generation.
Today the combined revenue of all companies incorporated under his watch exceed 100 Billion (10,000 cr) INR and several of them are market leaders in their respective products and services.

A graduate of Commerce, Shri Sajan Bansal, our Managing Director, incorporated Skipper investments Ltd. (later renamed to Skipper Steels ltd. And eventually Skipper Ltd) during the year 1981 as a small company making Hamilton Steel Poles for Telecom connectivity. Under his guidance, the company grew to be a leading Telecom poles and masts supplier in the 80’s and 90’s.
