Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure welding activities comply with AWS, ASME, ASTM, and IS codes, approved WPS, and quality standards.
• Perform visual inspections at all stages (fit-up, root, and final weld).
• Monitor welding parameters and ensure adherence to WPS/PQR requirements.
• Identify and report weld defects as per code-defined acceptance criteria.
• Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and specifications accurately.
• Maintain inspection records, welder qualifications (WPQ), WPS/PQR traceability, and NCR reports.
• Coordinate and review NDT activities (UT, RT, MT, PT) for compliance.
• Conduct and verify welder qualification tests and essential variables.
• Ensure proper verification of materials (MTCs) and control of welding consumables.
• Maintain documentation control and ensure traceability of welding processes.
• Support quality compliance through proper reporting and audits.
• Exercise authority to accept/reject welds, stop work for major issues, and recommend corrective actions.
