Skipper Adopts Argon-CO2 Gas Mix to Cut Carbon Emissions and Enhance Sustainability

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency, Skipper Limited’s Uluberia Unit has initiated the replacement of CO2 gas with an Argon-CO2 mix (80:20 ratio) for MIG welding operations. This eco-friendly gas blend significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to pure CO2, supporting our broader environmental goals. The transition has already shown remarkable progress, with CO2 consumption dropping from 381.

135 MT in FY 22–23 to 98.25 MT in FY 24–25, marking a major step in emission reduction. Upon full implementation, this initiative is expected to yield potential CO2 gas savings of approximately 200–250 MT per year, contributing to lower greenhouse gas emissions and reinforcing Skipper’s dedication to cleaner, more sustainable manufacturing practices.
